Der Rosenkavalier

The new production of Richard Strauss’ comic opera Der Rosenkavalier, staged by André Heller, opened at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin on 9 February. André Heller teamed up with Wolfgang Schilly to direct his first major opera. The set was designed by internationally acclaimed artist Xenia Hausner, while fashion designer Arthur Arbesser created the costumes. The opulent set is inspired by the Belle Époque and Art Nouveau. The Staatskapelle Berlin plays under its honorary conductor Zubin Mehta. Camilla Nylund can be seen in the role of the Field Marshal’s Wife, while the part of Baron Ochs auf Lerchenau is played by Günther Groissböck. Michèle Losier and Nadine Sierra are making their debuts in the roles of Octavian and Sophie.
